Globe Thistle

Globe Thistle

The wedding that we were at this weekend took place at the Summerland Ornamental Gardens. It's a really amazing place that is also a plant research station for the Okanagan region. I guess they do all sorts of research into what types of plants are able to live in this particular climate and how best to make them thrive. One of the more interesting areas is the Xeriscape Garden. While those in the wedding party were getting our pictures taken I was able to sneak in a few shots of some really neat plants that just you just don't see where I'm from. There was also an insane amount of bees that - thankfully - took absolutely no interest in us because there was the mother of all pollen harvests to be had in this huge garden.

This is the Echinops plant (thank you internet) and there were so many bees loading up it was a little freaky getting close enough to pop a tight shot of the flower and the bees. They couldn't have cared less.

Colour-correction, sharpening in Photoshop.
