Library Square Tower

Library Square Tower

The tower portion of Library Square as seen through the glass roof of the promenade area of the central branch of the Vancouver Public Library.

I have always loved the design of this building and am proud to say that I worked for the architectural firm that designed it - Downs Archambault & Partners. I was only there for a short while as a teenager and my position was nothing more than basic office help, but it has left a lasting impression on me. I had an interest in architecture and I was able to learn a lot about it in my time there. The people there had a mix of professionalism, creativity, talent and humor that is exceptionally rare.

It came as no surprise to me when their design was chosen to be the winning one for the main branch - voted on by the people. There were two other choices and the public was not informed which firm was responsible for each design, but I immediately knew which one was by DA simply by how unique it was.

Colour-correction, cropping, sharpening in Photoshop.
