Amazing Glass

Amazing Glass

I went to Starfish Glassworks when I was in Victoria. The pieces in there are simply astonishing. For someone like me who dies over vivid, bright colours, there isn't much that compares to glass art.

They have the gallery section on a balcony that overlooks the work area so you can appreciate (and buy) the finished pieces and then look down and see them creating new works. It's a fascinating process that I love watching but could never have the patience to do. Not only that, but they are really zen-like when, after a lot of work, the piece breaks and all that is left to do is sweep up the mess and start over again. I don't have that kind of zen - or if I do, not in the right amounts.

Morna Tudor is one of the principals there and I have one of her pieces but I bought that on Granville Island. I posted a photo of that piece a while ago here, but I'm not really happy with it.

Colour-correction, sharpening, cropping in iPhoto.
