Vancouver Police

There was a peace protest at Robson Square a while back and there was no shortage of police there. Four cars, two motorcycles, a police van, a couple of cops on bikes and various walking officers - which seems like a bit of overkill to watch over people that are protesting against violence and war. In fact, the overkill was so dramatic that it's pretty obviously intended as intimidation - which is completely disgusting.

This particular officer looked decidedly unhappy that I just sat with my camera pointed at him for quite a while always looking like he wanted to come over and "dissuade" me from taking any pictures. To his credit though, he never did. I have been to peace protests and always make it a point to notice the police surveillance which generally tends to be the cameramen-on-rooftop and unmarked-vans-in-alleys variety which I find totally unnecessary. That's when I take pictures of them.

What's good for the goose...
