Hiking in the Foothills

Hiking in the Foothills

The title might be a little incorrect because where we were hiking was more like the edge of the rockies and not quite the foothills. It's a fairly quick transition between real mountains and and the rolling hills of western Alberta. Along the Trans-Canada Highway the change is literally as you come around a long sweeping corner. The mountains melt away and it's little bumps all the way to Calgary.

I always hated that portion of the drive as I headed back from Vancouver because, once you get into the flats, it's a little hard to stay awake after ten hours of driving.

I guess I could have called it "Hiking in the Rockies", but that would make it seem like a grander expedition than it really was. It was a day hike with a few steep parts.
