Castle Mountain

Castle Mountain

Just "above" my last photo - and what confirmed to me that that was Sunshine Village - is Castle Mountain.

One thing I didn't know was that the utterly ridiculous WWI Ukrainian internment camp was located near there.

When I went to Winnipeg I photographed a statue at the legislature that commemorates those that were interned.

The mountain looks big when you drive past it - it's on highway 1 - but it just looks huge from the air. The large peak at the bottom right is... STORM MOUNTAIN!

The name might be melodramatic but I swear that every time I drove past that mountain it snowed. Even in summer. During the day. Without a cloud in the sky. Wow, blizzard much?
