Rare Icicles

Rare Icicles

A few years ago, we had a very unusual cold snap that lasted long enough for the fountain at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre to freeze up. A really rare sight. I took many shots but I hated nearly all of them. The lighting was bad and was a nasty yellow colour as well. My camera does not deal with noise very well and all of these shots had a ton of noise in them.

I had to use Neat Image to get rid of the noise enough that I could correct the colour-cast and adjust the levels of this shot. Without it, it just would have been a wasted shot.

I guess with RAW now, noise reduction software is not as necessary but I still don't have a camera that shoots raw so the point is moot with me.
