Oberlinden, Freiburg

Oberlinden, Freiburg

Just a super quick post. This is a street near where I used to live in Freiburg. The church you see in the background is the Münster. It was finished around 1230 and has a bell, one of sixteen, that weighs over 3000 kilos.

The scaffolding you see wrapped around the top is for it's restoration which has been ongoing for a long time. Considering how old the cathedral is, that shouldn't be so surprising.

The spire itself “will forever remain the most beautiful spire on earth”. Well, so said the noted Swiss historian Jacob Burckhardt.
