Lady in Blue and White

Lady in Blue and White

A black and white version is available if you hover over the red "+" symbol that is under the image title. I really like the vibrant colours in this version, but I also like the contrast of the black and white.

I said in my last post that, in true Vancouver fashion, it poured last year on the opening day of the 2010 Olympics. Also in true Vancouver fashion, two days later it was completely sunny and, perhaps, 12C. That meant that it was a great day to do a big walk around the downtown core and see what events were happening.

Over the course of a few hours, a friend and I worked our way down to Yaletown and decided to check out Livecity Yaletown - one of two large, free public venues set up for people to watch concerts and big screen live feeds from the events.

This lady was one of two performers that I saw walking around entertaining the people in line. Her, and her fellow performer, were nice enough to sop and give us a few poses before continuing on down the line. The line up itself was about a block long but more fast and we were in in about twenty minutes. For a really nice day on the opening weekend of the Olympics I thought that was pretty good.

The security at the gate wasn't overbearing - about what you'd expect at the Olympics. They did want to go through my camera bag and were a little confused as to what my gorillapod was but they were cool once I explained it. Too often security guys will dislike something you're carrying and just tell you no and not let you explain it.

Inside I did some people watching, enjoyed the big screen events, took in a few live performances, shot a ton of photos and just relaxed in the sun. It was a pretty good day.
