The Cisterns of Istanbul

The Cisterns of Istanbul

More empires and water in this photo. Yesterday was Rome and the Tiber, today is Istanbul and the underground cisterns. I've already written about their creation and history so I won't repeat myself.

It was quite by accident but these last three photos have covered three separate empires or great civilizations: Greece, Rome and Byzantium. I even managed to do them in chronological order. If only I had gone to Egypt last year when one of my friends went. Oh well.

At some point I'm going to Egypt but it looks a little chaotic right now. Hopefully these events lead to true freedom for all who don't have it now.
