Colours of Riomaggiore

Colours of Riomaggiore

I took this photograph looking up at the houses from the main street of Riomaggiore, via Columbo. It's a bit of a reverse angle of this image of Manarola - even though they're of different villages in the Cinque Terre.

It's also not far from where I took this shot of the waterfront of Riomaggiore.

The density, colours and steepness of the hills that they're built on just amazes me. In between all of those houses are little twisty paths that you can get totally lost in while checking out the interesting archways, doorways, windows and plants.

Mixed in with all of that are some cats relaxing in the shade and little old men and ladies going about their daily routine.

Their hardiness is astounding. They seem to have no problem running up and down the myriad stairs and hills. Ok, running might be an exaggeration, but they certainly put us to shame. I'll be more than happy if I'm that mobile at that age.

The key seems to be no stress, lots of italian seafood and plenty of wine. I'm pretty down with that.
