Die Altstadt

Die Altstadt

So, after yesterday's serious subject matter, something a little lighter.

A few months ago, I did some photography that required a tilt shift lens. We rented one and I did a bit of photography around Freiburg to get used to it. Lots of fun. This is a true tilt shift photo, not faked in Photoshop, but I increased the aperture so that the effect was not so pronounced. I have photos in which the effect is much, much more dramatic but that's not really what I was going for with this shot.

This is the old part of Freiburg, the giant church is always a dead giveaway on these things, and I took this photograph from the hill next to it called Schloßberg. Loosely, that's translated to castle mountain but more accurately as stately fortified mansion mountain. It doesn't exactly roll of the tongue in english so we can stick to the nicer, german name. And, it is a great place to get a nice overview of the historic part of the city.

My other photos of Freiburg can be found in the gallery.
