Vancouver From Over the Park

Vancouver From Over the Park

This is a shot I took a couple of years back of the downtown core of Vancouver from the Lion's Gate Bridge. For some reason, I had woken up at about 4:30 in the morning and was wide awake. I noticed that the sun was about to rise (it was august) and I thought that, if I hurried, I could catch the sunrise and maybe get some decent shots.

I grabbed my gear and headed out. There was no way that I could walk there in time so I hailed a cab and asked him how close he could get me to the middle of the bridge. He looked at me strangely and I had to explain that I was taking pictures - not jumping. He dropped me off at the south side of bridge and I trudged out to the middle and was treated to an amazing sunrise. This city is so beautiful. I snapped probably about two rolls of slide and then decided to head to back - it was almost eight and I had to go to work.

As I walked back I grabbed my digital and got a few more shots from overtop of the seawall. This park, this water and this city - they are why I am so happy I live here.
